The Hospitalist service runs a rotation of physicians, hospitalists in full-time positions generally provide 7-day coverage. Each physician works alternate weeks, covering up to 17 inpatients. Part-time opportunities are also available.
Hospitalists are paid a daily sessional rate and qualify for premiums for after hours, weekend and holiday work. Weekend and holiday premiums are remunerated at the applicable rate plus an add-on premium of twenty-five percent (25%). Overnight on-call coverage responsibilities are shared within the hospitalist group and remunerated by an on-call retainer plus fee for service model. Qualification Requirements

Education |
Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island;
Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada; Hold MCCQE Part I or Licentiate of Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) equivalent; Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA); Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging; Work experience preferable with at least 1- 2 years of clinical experience working in Canada. Atlantic Registry As of May 1, 2023, physicians whose primary practice is in Atlantic Canada (and hold a general registration in either PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador) may be eligible to obtain registration to practice in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces via the Atlantic Registry.
