Details: Shared Health and the Department of Internal Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, invite applications for Physicians in the Department of Internal Medicine. The successful applicant will work closely with the Section of General Internal Medicine to provide inpatient care in various locations throughout Manitoba (including, Winnipeg, Selkirk, Brandon and Thompson). This is a nil academic daily stipend plus fee for service position, with a start date of as soon as possible based on the successful candidate’s availability, for a for a term to be negotiated renewable upon favorable review. The faculty members in general internal medicine form a section that oversees the major in-patient and out-patient clinical care services at the three teaching hospitals in Winnipeg. Section physicians provide clinical attending services on a variety of Clinical Teaching Units, in-patient Consult Services, screening coverage in the emergency rooms, and numerous ambulatory care clinics at Winnipeg’s tertiary care centres and acute care hospitals. It is planned to expand the existing General Internal Medicine service in Brandon and to build General Internal Medicine capacity in other regional centers across the Province including Thompson and Selkirk. The successful applicant will provide comprehensive, integrated care, treatment and support to all patients within General Internal Medicine. As part of the health care team, these Physicians must be able to interact in a positive manner with other members of the team, patients and their families to create a pleasant working environment and to provide optimal patient care. The primary location of service delivery is negotiable, but a desire/willingness to work fully or partially in rural and/or Northern Manitoba will be an asset. Qualifications: Candidates must have qualifications in General Internal Medicine in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred. Compensation: Compensation is derived from fee-for-service income, as well as daily stipend.
