The Moncton Hospital, a facility within Horizon Health Network, is currently recruiting a general pediatrician to establish a community practice and provide inpatient care. Currently, the department has a complement of four neonatologists and a cohesive group of 5.3 pediatricians. The Moncton Hospital is a regional referral center and teaching hospital; with 3500 deliveries per year in our referral region; 18 bed NICU; 10-bed Pediatric Unit; 3-bed close observation unit. A $36-million project for a brand-new wing to modernize the environment for maternal and newborn services, neonatal intensive care and maternal fetal medicine is underway, and is expected to open in 2023. It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties. The hospital has two state of the art MIS suites as well as a new outpatient complex including an up-to-date GI/endoscopy suite, clinics and minor OR suites. The Moncton Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University. Remuneration |
With approval from the Department of Health of New Brunswick, a salaried model, with benefits, may be available. This may range between a minimum of $245,362 to a maximum of $298,324 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. On-call and out-of-province remuneration is fee-for-service.
Fee-for-service remuneration is also available, which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. No source deductions can be provided. These rates are based on New Brunswick’s Medicare Medical Pay Plan and are subject to changes based on policy updates. |

(Subject to pre-approval by the Department of Health) The length of the Return-of-Service is calculated based on Full time work. Unless otherwise defined in writing by the Department of Health, full-time is defined as the equivalent of 1 FTE under the Canadian Institute for Health Information methodology. Physicians who have been authorized to work part-time must work at least the equivalent of 0.60 FTE /18hrs per week and will be required to provide a longer Return-of-Service which will be prorated accordingly. |

Education |
• The Department of Pediatrics requires that its active and courtesy members have passed the examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of la Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec. In circumstances where no Canadian trained applicants are available, the Department will consider physicians with American Board certification who are eligible for medical license in New Brunswick. In special circumstances, foreign graduates who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick will be considered.
