Obstetrics & Gynecology – Amazing 6-month Ob/Gyn locum with opportunity for transition into a FT or PT position in the winter wonderland of Timmins, Ontario. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Timmins and District Hospital, located in Northeastern Ontario, is looking for a 6-8 month Obstetrics and Gynecology locum for maternity leave coverage. This position is available from Novemeber 13th to June 1st 2024 (possibly extending to Sept 1st 2024 if this is of interest to the candidate). This opportunity has the possibility of transitioning into a full-time (or part-time) role in order to add to our existing complement of 3. The locum would have access to 2-3 clinic days/week in office space directly across from the hospital as well as 1 OR day/week. Call requirements are 1 in 5 home calls and we all support post call days. We are a very colleagial group of family oriented Ob/Gyn’s and we often assist each other in the OR. Remuneration is on a fee-for-service basis, plus HOCC on-call stipend (390$/24hrs). Opportunities to fulfill a respite locum position through health force ontario are available which would provide coverage for travel, accommodations and a daily honorarium (300$/day). Overhead costs are very affordable and negotiable. The Timmins and District Hospital is a 153-bed fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of emergency, medical, surgical, critical care, Ob/Gyne, pediatric, long-term care, and mental health services. We are a level IIb center with 700 deliveries per year and deliver down to 34 weeks. The successful candidate will serve a Timmins population of approximately 45,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Enjoy a low-cost of living centre where access to the outdoors is at your doorstep. We are a 1hr flight from Toronto via Porter or Air Canada. Enjoy one of the largest Nordic ski and snowshoe clubs in Canada within the city center with night skiing available. Close proximity to downhill skiing as well at Mount Jamieson Resort. Applicants should possess good clinical and surgical skills and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be eligible for a full independent medical license in the Province of Ontario.
