The Timmins and District Hospital is a 153-bed referral and teaching hospital. It offers multidisciplinary care in the areas of emergency, medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care, and mental health services. TADH provides care to a catchment population of approximately 115,000 people. The Department of Family Medicine consists of 36 full-time and part-time physicians, some of whom belong to a FHT, FHN or FHO. Hospital privileges could include the opportunity to practice Primary Care Obstetrics, Addictions Medicine, Surgical Assisting, ER, or participate in the Hospitalist Program. Excellent diagnostics including CT and MR, interventional, as well as Nuclear Medicine, backed by a strong radiology group. Specialty services include Anesthesia, ENT, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, OBS Gyne, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Urology. With a city population of roughly 45,000, Timmins has all the best Northern Ontario has to offer, all seasons, by way of outdoor recreation. There are popular, beautiful lakes within less than an hour of downtown. Timmins offers residents hockey for all ages, local cross country and downhill skiing with recreational programming as well as world-class snowmobile trails. Kayaking is very popular here on the lakes as well as on the Mattagami River running right through the city. There are two eighteen-hole golf courses to enjoy and a large Sportplex Pool complex. Timmins has a well-serviced, busy airport with multiple, daily, short flights to Toronto. Relocation incentives are provided by the Timmins and District Hospital. The successful candidates can also apply to the Northern Ontario Recruitment and Retention Incentive Program provided by Ontario Health.
