The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 153-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health Services. Affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), there is plenty of opportunity for teaching medical students and residents.

The Mental Health Program is seeking a Permanent General Psychiatrist to join its team of three Psychiatrists. Candidates with a special interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry would be welcomed. The service of General Psychiatry provides a variety of inpatient and outpatient services for patients in Timmins and across the District including a 22-bed adult and a 4-bed Child and Adolescent inpatient unit(s) for diagnosing and treating patients with a variety of serious mental illnesses. Psychiatrists can also provide ECT services to inpatients and outpatients, and provide outpatient consultations.

Relocation assistance is provided by TADH, support is available for community assessment visits, and applicants are able to apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $80,000 incentive over a 4 year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents that establish a practice in Timmins. International candidates can qualify to apply to the N3R upon receiving permanent residency.
