Northern Health is seeking a Pediatrician for a solo practice in beautiful Smithers, BC. This Pediatrician will be well supported by colleagues in nearby Terrace. Smithers offers uniquely peaceful lifestyle with congenial medical environment, but in addition an airport in town, a downhill ski mountain in town, endless hikes and lakes and affordable real-estate.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 24 bed acute care facility providing emergency/outpatient, medical, surgical, maternity and palliative care services, and has one psychiatric observation unit. The facility supports home and community care services, a strong community cancer clinic, and a diverse visiting specialist/surgeon program. It also offers laboratory and radiology (x-ray, mammography, ultrasound), and pediatrics services.

Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town’s Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. There are golf courses, swimming, curling and skating rinks, gyms, mountain biking and hiking trails. The population of Smithers is approximately 5,400 and home to some of the country’s best skiing. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school and one alternate format school for gr. 9 – 12.
