Quesnel Medical Clinic is looking for full service family physician locum coverage from March 1 – April 30th, 2022; rotating vacation coverage for each of the 3 full time Family Practice Physicians.

The locum would provide primary care visits as well as hospital rounds for any of their patient admissions. No obstetrical care or long term care is required, as those patients are supported through a local network of family practice physicians. There is opportunity for locums to do ER rotations but it is not required.

The clinic uses Wolf EMR and provides a reasonable split between in person and virtual health visits. The clinic is a modern and spacious right in the center of town, just steps from the hospital and pharmacies. We have 3 experienced Medical Office Assistants, expert billings personal, and each physician has a primary care nurse assigned to them to help organize patient follow up supports in community health.

We offer special benefits package of free accommodation within physicians home for duration of stay and use of vehicle.

Quesnel has a population of 12,000 within city limits and 25,000 including catchment areas. The Hospital, G.R. Baker Memorial, is a 42 bed facility including a – medical/surgical inpatient unit – ICU – ER – Operating Theatres – Labour and Delivery Unit.

The Quesnel Medical Staff currently includes 20 practicing GP’s, GP anesthesia, GP long term care group, GP maternity group, 2 GP oncologist, 2 Internal medicine,2 General surgery, ENT, OBGYN, Psychiatrist, and visiting specialists. There is a wide spectrum of community services including wound care, mental health and addictions, aboriginal liaison, social services, chronic disease management, dietitian, RT, palliative care, urgent primary care, home supports, OT, PT, Child youth mental health.

There are full amenities downtown within walking distance including grocery stores, four gyms, beautiful parks, restaurants, laundromat, microbrewery. The Scenic River Walk is a 5km route around downtown Quesnel with views of both the Quesnel and Fraser rivers with a heritage walking bridge that connects city center to West Quesnel over the Fraser River and the walkways extend to South Quesnel. There are many recreational opportunities in your down time: Mountain bike and Hike trails, beautiful lakes for fishing or recreation within 10 min drive, several golf courses, Troll ski resort (downhill) and Hallis Lake (cross country), tennis courts and Pickle Ball at West Fraser Park, Soccer arena, and lake skating in the Winter or in the new West Fraser Center arena.
