Physician - Internal Medicine at Fort St John Hospital and Health Center
Fort St John, British Columbia |
Job ID: 7674 | |
This posting is covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination orders and selected applicant(s) must comply. Northern Health is seeking a General Internal Medicine Specialist. The position will be a mix of office based, hospital consult, and ICU coverage. The ICU is relatively low acuity. There is presently one full-time Internist in Fort St. John and one full-time Internist in Dawson Creek (70 km away). The goal is to move to an Alternate Payment Plan (APP) with 3-4 Internists in Fort St. John. The Fort St John Hospital is a new state-of-the-art 55 bed hospital serving a population of approximately 20,000, and is one of two hospitals serving a catchment area of approximately 69,000. The facility offers services including diagnostics, surgery, acute care, ICU, maternity, a community cancer centre, community hemodialysis, visiting specialists clinic, and a prenatal clinic. Other local specialists include Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Radiology, and Pathology in Fort St John, and Orthopaedics in the neighbouring community of Dawson Creek. Site Location: Fort St. John Hospital, 8407 112 Avenue, Fort St John BC, V1J 2A4. Company: Northern Health Authority, located at 230 9900 – 100 Ave. Fort St John BC, V1J 5S7. If interested, please submit your CV to Health Match BC, who will refer you to Physician Recruitment at the Health Authority. A recent Hospital Appeals Board ruling provides you with the option to commence processing your expression of interest/application on receipt of your inquiry. The Hospital Act requires the notification by Board of the approval or denial of medical staff membership in writing within 120 days. This ruling presents significant challenges in ensuring a timely review of a complete application as defined in Article 4 of the Bylaws. For clarity, no action is required if you would like to have your expression of interest/application move through the approval process once deemed complete. If you would like to move your expression of interest/application through the approval process in its current state, please notify the Health Authority of your intentions immediately. If the request for privileges is denied by the Board due to an absence of information, as outlined in the application package and the Bylaws, it is the applicant’s responsibility to disclose the denial of medical staff membership to the appropriate regulatory agencies and other Health Care Organizations as required in license renewal and privileging policies.
