As the Senior Medical Advisor, Health and Practice Conditions Monitoring, you will add capacity and clinical/medical expertise in Continuing Competence, specifically supporting Heath and Practice Conditions Monitoring (HPCM) program. You will also work as a team member in the Continuing Competence department and with other individuals from other areas of CPSA.

This is a permanent position working 28 hours to 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities:

*Provide required clinical/medical insights on workability of physicians with health conditions affecting fitness to practice, changes in permit conditions, and make recommendations on fitness to practice for regulated members.

*Ensure physicians follow permit conditions and health condition monitoring requests and that proper process has been followed for regulated members and other stakeholders.

*Make policy and Standards of Practice recommendations to the Competence Committee based on learnings and feedback from permit conditions and monitoring outcomes.

*Work with the Program Manager, HPCM, and other CPSA departments and external stakeholders on recommendations to existing regulated members permit conditions.

*Provide recommendations on permit conditions to the Assistant Registrar based on review of information from regulated members, external health monitors and other stakeholders.

*Report higher risk or complicated HPCM files to the Assistant Registrar.

This role is a permanent position, preferably 0.7 FTE (28 hours/week) with an annual salary of $176,842 or 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) with an annual of $203,706.

Qualification Requirements
Education
* MD, Certification in the College of Family Physicians (CCFP) or equivalent, and/or Royal College.

* Eligible for licensure in Alberta. 
Experience
* 10+ years of clinical medical practice with specific experience in occupational health, assessing and managing substance abuse disorders, psychiatric conditions, and other significant physician health issues.

* Broad medical knowledge and experience in a variety of health care settings.
