Remuneration
Remuneration
Up to 37.5 hours/week to a maximum of 1725 hours/year for a contract-for-service physician.

Remuneration Options

Contract Hourly rate ranging from $145.00 – $165.57 depending on years of service; or
Fee For Service
Physicians have the option of choosing a fee-for-service or contract for service payment modality.

Base contract-for-service rate is $145.00to $165.57/hour.
Fee-for-service is based on the tariff of fees in the Master Agreement
After hours and weekend on-call services provided outside regular contract-for-service hours are paid on a fee-for-service basis. A contract-for-service option also provides a guarantee incentive.
A Locum Psychiatrist providing on-call coverage shall receive a retention payment of $1495 per 24-hour period of call coverage.
* For locums signing on as a long-term locum, providing 6 months or more of services, they would be eligible for the Blended Payment which is 31% of your shadow billings which are paid quarterly.

Out of Province Locum Supports:

Under the Locum Support Program, you will be eligible for:

Reimbursement of the MCC-AMR Application Fee ($227) and PEI Application Fee ($400) costs when you apply for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI online through Physicians Apply;
Reimbursement of the locum license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI;
Coverage of registration fees with the Medical Society of PEI;
Reimbursement of hotel accommodations during the length of the locum Psychiatrist’s stay on Prince Edward Island, up to a maximum of $300 per night, with submission of receipts;
$100 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period;
Reimbursement of cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and bridge and road tolls reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare; and
Paid travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered (e.g. flight time);
Reimbursement for car rental up to $1,400 weekly with submission of receipts. 
Qualification Requirements
Education
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada eligibility or certification;
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island;
Appointment to the Health PEI Medical Staff and appropriate privileging;
Work experience preferable.
Atlantic Registry

Starting May 1, 2023, physicians whose primary practice is in Atlantic Canada (and hold a general registration in either PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador) may be eligible to obtain registration to practice in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces via the Atlantic Registry. Health Care Workers are required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per Health PEI’s Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy. If a new hire is unable to be vaccinated as a result of a medical exemption, they will be required to submit supporting documentation to Employee Health / Wellness and Safety.
