BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County’s specialty programs and services for our 120,000+ residents and boasts stable, state-of-the-art programs within a team environment that ensures high level patient-focused care. We are a regional centre for a variety of services including surgical services. The Department of Medicine is comprised of a number of divisions including General Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Oncology, and Nephrology.

The Department of Internal Medicine at the Brant Community Healthcare System is currently recruiting for a full time Associate Hematologist. This physician will be providing care in the hospital including general hematology work investigations including bone marrow aspirates and biopsies as well as supporting consultations from the hospital wards and the emergency department as required. In addition to hematology work they would participate in internal medicine call in accordance with the department schedule, approximately 1 in 12 days. In addition to their hospital work, this hematologist will be required to set up a practice in the Brantford/Brant County community in addition to participating in hospital work for both inpatients and outpatients.

The ideal candidate will have independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and a Hematology certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. We are looking for individuals with exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills, and a dedication to service excellence. They should also be a strong team player to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, managers and the community with a commitment to medical education.

BCHS serves a high population of indigenous persons in the region therefore culturally appropriate care for indigenous patients is a priority to the organization. Physicians with experience and an interest in caring for indigenous persons are encouraged to apply.
