The Department of Surgery at the Timmins and District Hospital, located in Northeastern Ontario, is looking for a 6-month General Surgeon locum for maternity leave coverage. This position is available mid-July/early August to February 2024. This opportunity has the possibility of transitioning into a full-time General Surgeon role in order to add to our existing complement of 3. The locum would have access to office space at the hospital, including 1 OR day/week, 1.25 endo days/week, and ½ a minor day every 2 weeks. The Timmins and District Hospital is a 153-bed fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of emergency, medical, surgical, critical care, Ob/Gyne, pediatric, long-term care, and mental health services. The successful candidate will serve a Timmins population of approximately 45,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Applicants should possess good clinical and surgical skills and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be eligible for a full independent medical license in the Province of Ontario. Remuneration is on a fee-for-service basis, plus HOCC on-call stipend. The Timmins and District Hospital provides the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents through our affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
