Description: The Division of Palliative Care, University Health Network (UHN) and the University of Toronto are seeking a full-time clinician with expertise in teaching, research or quality improvement in palliative medicine, based at the University Health Network, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The successful applicant must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The clinician will spend their time as follows: approximately 80% clinical, and 20% teaching and research. Clinical care includes outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation service, and palliative care unit and call coverage at this site. Overview of Palliative Care Program: The Division of Palliative Care at the University Health Network spans four sites: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. The interdisciplinary program includes inpatient consultations and MRP coverage, outpatient clinics and an acute palliative care unit. The Palliative Care program is expanding across all sites, creating a need for additional physician positions particularly at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Department members have excellent opportunities for educational and research endeavours within an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and social workers, among others. Fee-for-service, ~>250,000/year
Remuneration will be consistent with similar academic positions in Toronto. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the University Hospital Palliative Care Practice Plan, through which all earnings will be administered. |

Qualification Requirements

Education |
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have completed training in a recognized palliative medicine postgraduate training program, and have, or be eligible for, licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Responsibilities will include excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Candidates should have completed, or be willing to complete, a graduate degree in education or research, or have one or more years of post-residency fellowship.

The successful applicant will foster excellence in Palliative Medicine and will have broad clinical and research interests related to palliative care. Advanced training and evidence of scholarship is a requirement for the appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. They should demonstrate academic experience through publications in leading journals and presentations at significant conferences.
