Applications are invited for the position of Associate Medical Director, Corporate Infection Control and Prevention (IPAC) and Staff Infectious Diseases Specialist, Department of Medicine, Unity Health Toronto, primarily based at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC) site. St. Joseph’s is a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network. Unity Health Toronto is Canada’s largest Catholic Academic Health Sciences System and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. St. Joseph’s, the primary site for this position, employs approximately 2500 staff, along with 500 Credentialed Staff physicians and serves approximately 400 beds. It provides primary, secondary and selected tertiary services to the West Toronto region. Serving a culturally and economically diverse population of about 530,000, it embraces the Unity Health values of Inclusivity, Community, Excellence, Compassion and Human Dignity. At the primary site, clinical responsibilities will include supporting the Infectious Diseases Division’s continued contributions to best-in-class ID consultative supports to all Departments within the Health Centre. A vacancy exists in HIV-related clinical consultative care—expertise in this area is considered an asset. Working with the Medical Director of Corporate Infection Control and Prevention (IPAC), approximately 2.5 days will be dedicated to supporting the IPAC program across all three sites of Unity Health Toronto. The IPAC Program and Medicine Department seek an outstanding clinician with proven strong administrative and leadership skills. Experience, knowledge and demonstrated interest in IPAC services are preferred. The Associate Medical Director will be responsible for clinical and administrative matters within the Program and will continue to foster excellence in patient care services. They will work to ensure the continued responsiveness of the program and will foster collaborations with the leadership at all sites of Unity Health Toronto, including St. Michael’s and Providence Health, along with the Keenan Research Centre, the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, and our external partners in our care communities. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and must possess an FRCP Infectious Disease and be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario, and eligible for (at minimum) an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1st, 2023, or as mutually agreed. It is expected that the successful candidate will work at St. Joseph’s Health Centre clinically at approximately 0.5FTE in the Division of Infectious Disease. The anticipated time commitment will be 2.5 days per week for the IPAC administrative role. The salary for the administrative role is commensurate with this time commitment.
