Details: Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB R3C 3H8) and The University of Manitoba, Department of Ophthalmology (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist to help address our labour shortage in Manitoba. The temporary position requires the provision of comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology services in a provincial tertiary referral hospital, as well as services for adult strabismus and a comprehensive on call service for patients of all ages as part of the departmental on call rota. Main duties include the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications, surgical treatment, ordering laboratory tests, x-rays and other diagnostic services, consulting with other physicians as required, medical research, and teaching. Job duties are in English. Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Ophthalmology, must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology is required; 2 years of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology is preferred. Experience in the medical and surgical treatment of strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity and pediatric cataracts preferred. Preference will also be given to applicants with a research-based graduate degree. Compensation: Compensation is a blend of fee-for-service and an alternate funding arrangement ($550,000+/annum).
