General Psychiatry Faculty Position, Women’s College Hospital, University of Toronto Women’s College Hospital (WCH) is the first and only independent, academic, ambulatory care hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on the health of women. The Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN), composed of the University and including WCH amongst its nine fully-affiliated institutions, is one of the world’s largest, most productive academic health sciences centres. Women’s College Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry is seeking a psychiatrist to join our General Psychiatry Program. The main clinical focus of this position involves providing general psychiatric assessments to outpatients referred from family practice and medical/surgical subspecialties at Women’s College Hospital. Specific opportunities of the current position are that it includes the potential for funded collaborative mental health care roles embedded within WCH Family Practice and with community partners. WCH’s General Psychiatry Program strives to employ a trauma-informed lens to all services, and to provide an inclusive environment and equitable services to people in all their diversity (https://www.womenscollegehospital.ca/care-programs/mental-health/general-psychiatry-program/). The program’s interdisciplinary team aims to empower individuals to effectively manage their mental health symptoms, through the use of evidence based therapeutic modalities. The team consists of psychiatrists, mental health therapists, and a social service worker, as well as students in these fields. Situated in an academic hospital, the program is committed to clinical innovation, education and research with a specific focus on WCH’s strategic goals related to advancements in health system innovation, virtual care and revolutionizing health care for women in the service of equity for all. This posting is for a full-time academic position. The successful candidate will be supported to develop an academic focus, most likely as a Clinician-Teacher or Clinician in Quality and Innovation, although individuals with a focus as a Clinician-Researcher are invited to also apply. The selected applicant will be eligible to participate in all of the practice plan’s benefit arrangements, including life, medical and dental benefits and parental leave. Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Psychiatry, must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario and be eligible for or holding an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or above in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and must hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English. Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding available through the Alternate Funding Program (AFP) and/or Women’s College Hospital Department of Psychiatry Practice Plan.
