Shared Health and the Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, is seeking an ALS Clinic Director in the Section of Neurology. The Section is one of 17 in the Department of Internal Medicine, providing patient care, undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education, and research.

Preference will be given to those having subspecialty expertise in the diagnosis and management of patients with ALS and other neuromuscular disorders. In particular, the role includes leading a multidisciplinary team working in a well-established ALS clinic. Within the Section of Neurology there is also opportunity to participate in clinics related to Electrodiagnostics, General Neuromuscular Disease, and General Neurology.

The successful recruit will have, within the University of Manitoba’s Section of Neurology, an academic appointment, with responsibilities of teaching and mentoring. The academic rank is dependent on the candidate’s current academic experience. The Section has substantial resources within the health system, primarily at two academic health centres and one community-based hospital. The 28 faculty members form a Section that includes a highly productive and internationally renowned Multiple Sclerosis research group and a strong residency training program. A new 28-bed acute Stroke Unit will be opening in early 2022.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have senior specialty qualifications in Neurology in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.
