The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group is a 628-bed, academic health science centre, providing leadership in clinical, educational and research activities in the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group (ROHCG), a fully affiliated teaching site for the University of Ottawa, and is a tertiary academic center providing clinical service, teaching and research opportunities. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Psychiatrist with exemplary credentials and a demonstrated proficiency in working collegially and respectfully within medical and multidisciplinary teams to develop their future career in the Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program. This is flexible outpatient position, located at the Ottawa Campus, is a 0.6 FTE position, leaving time for research or other clinical collaborations. Active participation in teaching and research is anticipated, and opportunities exist for participation in the administrative functioning of the hospital.

The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre is composed of a 2 site facility located in Eastern Ontario and is comprised of:

• A 190-bed state-of-the-art mental health facility and one 96-bed facility (24 recovery beds and 64 long-term care beds) located in Ottawa, and;

• The Brockville Mental Health Centre which is a specialized mental health facility located in Brockville, has 161 inpatient beds (61 Forensic Treatment Unit, 100 Secure Treatment Unit) and 183 beds in the community (Homes for Special Care);

This position is responsible for providing psychiatric/medical evaluation, diagnosis, medication management services and follow up to our outpatient clients, ensuring compliance with program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines. The Program is currently preparing for enhanced community presence, and desires collaboration with organizational partners. Readiness to provide cross coverage is an expectation of all physicians in the Program. The ideal Psychiatrist will be excited and motivated by the opportunity to work in a program that emphasizes integrated healthcare, and in possession of the collaborative vision required to foster a research and clinical teaching environment.

The successful candidate will possess:
• Current CPSO licensure and CMPA
• At least 5 years of experience in Schizophrenia care, Severe and Persistent Mental Illness
• Demonstrated productivity in Research, evidenced by publication and successful grant application histories.
• Demonstrated interest in clinical teaching of medical students, Psychiatry residents.
• Demonstrated medical/clinical leadership skills, a complete working knowledge of psychopharmacology and experience in mental health service delivery to a broad-based individual, family and multi-cultural patient population
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingualism preferred.

• Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
