The Northern Health Region is currently seeking a 0.67 full time equivalent (FTE) Internal Medicine Specialist to practice in a multidisciplinary environment in Thompson, Manitoba. The Northern Health Region is geographically the largest of the five Regional Health Authorities in the province of Manitoba and has a population of 72,000 people spread over 396,000 km, resulting in a population density of 0.18 persons per km. Mining, hydro-electric development, forestry, commercial fishing, trapping, transportation and tourism are the major industries in the Region.

Qualifications:

The candidate must be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba. Candidates with Royal College Certification are preferred.

Compensation:

Please note all details below are pro-rated according to a 0.67 FTE:

- Generous remuneration with guaranteed income through alternative funding as identified in the Doctors Manitoba Collective Agreement of between $218,516 – $257,845 annually (salary prorated for 0.67 FTE) depending on qualifications plus the ability to claim fee-for-service after hours. The wage reflects a 25% Northern fee differential.

- On-call services are compensated at a rate of $616.55 per 24 hour on-call shift based on a 1:3 rotation

- Provide 1,306 hours of coverage annually (exclusive of on-call)

- 20 paid vacation and 12 paid stat holidays per year

- 6.7 paid days of Continuing Medical Education (CME) leave and $4,690 CME funds

- Payment of CPSM and CMPA fees

- Payment in lieu of pension (7% of base salary)

- Group health and dental benefits, life insurance, long and short term disability, Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

- 10 days of income protection annually

- Maternity and paternity leave

Practice Location:

This position is located at the Thompson General Hospital and Northern Consultation Clinic in Thompson, Manitoba. The City of Thompson, known as the “Hub of the North”, is located 740 kilometers north of Winnipeg, and serves as the regional trade and service centre of Northern Manitoba. With a population of approximately 15,000 residents, Thompson boasts all of the amenities of an urban centre as well as the beauty of the surrounding lakes and Boreal Forest.
