Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist

British Columbia Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth. As the main pediatrics clinical training site for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), BCCH is the leading acute care teaching facility in the province, and conducts research to advance health and knowledge through the BC Children’s Research Institute, and collaborations with other institutions.

The BC Children’s and BC Women’s Redevelopment Project is building a new Teck Acute Care Centre (TACC) at the Oak Street campus of the BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Care Centre.

The Oncology/Hematology/BMT program has relocated to the new Teck Acute Care Centre (TACC). The new inpatient unit features 27 single-patient rooms. The new outpatient unit features 23 single-patient rooms. The program sees 140 new oncology patients and 400 new hematology consultations per year, and performs 25 transplants annually. Additionally, the program is a funded member of the Children’s Oncology Group and has a highly productive research program with over 3 million dollars of grant funding per year.

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Bone and Marrow Transplantation has an outstanding opportunity for a locum Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist to join our well established team at BCCH.

Responsibilities encompass patient care, teaching. Applicants must have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in pediatrics, and will have completed a recognized training program in pediatric hematology/oncology. Additional training and/or an established track record in clinical oncology and hematology is preferred as well as additional expertise in neuro oncology.

The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate Clinical Faculty rank at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Academic rank and clinical salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

The anticipated start date is May 2018
