Occupational Therapist

Interior Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to fill a permanent part time vacancy at our Kimberley Health Centre and Kimberley Special Care Home. This position primarily covers community care in addition to a small residential care component. Come and join our amazing interdisciplinary team and make a difference in the lives of others!

Occupational Therapy duties in community care include conducting safety assessments in regard to clients’ cognitive and physical abilities to complete daily tasks in a safe and effective manner and provide recommendations as needed. The occupational therapist will also assist with equipment prescriptions.

Occupational Therapy duties in residential care may vary depending on resident needs. Daily tasks include cognitive screens, splinting, wheelchair assessments and justification letters, swallowing assessments, recommendations for adaptive aids, equipment recommendations such as beds and pressure relief surfaces. The main goal is improving quality of life and finding ways to make functional tasks as simple as possible in order for residents to remain as independent as possible.

A strong candidate will have experience with cognitive assessments, medical and orthopaedic situations as well as post-op medications and ongoing medical challenges.

The position is currently scheduled to work Wednesday and Thursdays, 08:30 to 15:12.

Qualification Requirements
Eligible for CAOT Membership; Current COTBC Registration; Valid Driver’s license
• Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
• Valid BC Driver’s license.
