Interior Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to fill the acute care and outpatient duties at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC. The East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKH) is responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area. Located in Cranbrook, between Kimberley and Fernie, EKH offers services including core physician specialties, 24 emergency and trauma services, Level 3 laboratory, acute and obstetrical care.

This position requires a broad level of experience across different treatment areas, such as performing functional assessments, setting up supports and prescribing equipment, applying for funding, discharge planning, conducting swallowing screening, and fabricating of splints. The Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team working together in providing discharge planning and treatment goals. The OT will assist individuals in increasing their level of independence in ADLs and iADLs. Ability to assess and provide recommendations for family members and/or rehabilitation assistants to assist patients with rehabilitation goals (consultative approach) is required.

This position works a 3-week rotation (Mon/Thurs for two weeks then Mon/Sat on 3rd week); shift time is 08:00 to 16:15. The position FTE is 0.40 (30 hrs/wk). The vacancy is relief until the return of the incumbent (approximately August 2018).
