Summary
General Practitioner (opioid agonist therapy)

Interior Health is opening a new rapid access opioid agonist therapy (OAT) clinic in Kelowna, BC. The new clinic will have an interdisplinary approach to care with patients with opioid use disorder, and will offer same‐day methadone and suboxone initiation, harm reduction and outpatient opioid withdrawal management, as well as any required primary care. Injectable OAT’s may also offered in the future when additional resources become available.

Qualifications:

• clinical experience in the area of addiction medicine
• current methadone exemption for the treatment of opioid use disorder and suboxone certification (or willingness to obtain)
• willingness to learn how to assess and prescribed injectable opioid agonist therapy (intravenous hydromorphone and diacetylmorphine) for individuals with refractory opioid use disorder
• ability to function and work collaboratively as a team
• experience in providing harm reduction focused addictions care
• experience in providing trauma-informed care
• should be certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) or International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), or willing to work toward certification
• willingness to provide teaching to medical students, residents and allied health provides
