Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner (ICP) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

Based at a large, tertiary hospital, the Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner (ICP) promotes excellence in infection prevention and control practice and education, through the application of clinical nursing skills combined with specialized infection prevention control skills and knowledge.

The ICP applies risk management and continuous improvement methodologies in providing expert advice and acting as a specialty education resource to a wide ranging client base which may include patients, physicians, nurses, managers and other departments and services within Interior Health. The ICP provides consultation, collaboration, advocacy and education in infection prevention and health promotion best practice and epidemiological principles.

Qualifications

•Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
•Current practicing College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC)
•Current certification in Infection Control CIC with the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC)
•3 years recent, related experience in an acute care practice environment
•Knowledge of the interrelationships between Acute, Residential, Community Health and Public Health Resources in the health delivery system
•Strong working knowledge of program development and implementation and performance measures
•Valid Class 5 vehicle license and access to a personal vehicle
