The Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Medicine Program invite applications for an Academic Physician with advanced training in infectious diseases.

The Section has members located primarily at two academic health centres (St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre), and serves the needs of Manitoba, Nunavut, and Northwestern Ontario, with a catchment of over 1.2 million population.

The Infectious Disease Service provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient consultative, procedural and outpatient follow-up care to the catchment area including an outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy program.

There are presently 8 full-time academic infectious diseases physicians within the Section with major clinical and investigative responsibilities in infectious disease and additional part time members.

The successful applicant will participate in the Infectious Disease inpatient and outpatient consultation service and function as a clinical research expert in immunocompromised host/transplant infectious disease with an interest in clinical research particularly chronic viral infections or antibiotic resistance.

This is a geographical, full-time, contingent position commencing June 1, 2018, or as soon thereafter as possible, for a term of 2 years, renewable upon favourable review. Salary and rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have academic potential, including demonstration of effective interdisciplinary communication and a track record of prior clinical work in Infectious Diseases. He/she must also have clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this specialty.

Candidates must have specialty qualifications in Internal Medicine and Transplant Infectious Diseases in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.

Compensation:

Salary and rank are dependent on qualifications and experience.
