Summary
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

A Permanent Part-Time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer opportunity is currently available in Cranbrook, BC; a family-friendly community with a unique combination of urban amenities and stunning natural surroundings.

Serving a catchment area of approximately 80,000 people this hospital is responsible for providing medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area.

This is a permanent part time opportunity (51 hours bi-weekly). This position consists of rotating Days, Evenings and Nights including on-call. A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer candidate would be joining a collegial and cohesive Diagnostic Imaging team. Techs perform a wide variety of exams including abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical (including NT), vascular, small parts, limited MSK and Interventional work (drainages and biopsies). Exams are performed on both outpatients and inpatients (includes Emergency Department). We also offer Echo service. This is a designated training facility affiliated with BC Institute of Technology. One seat is available for one student per year so techs are actively involved with practicum training.

This facility has three General Ultrasound Rooms and one Echo Room. Approximately 11,000 General exams are completed per year and roughly 2,000 Echo exams per year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized/accredited North American Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).
• Current certification with Sonography Canada (formerly CARDUP) as required for the assigned practice area (i.e. Cardiac or Generalist and Cardiac) and/or current certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as required for the assigned practice area (such as Cardiac).
• Eligible for membership with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.
