Summary
Clinical Nurse Leader

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Leader at Cowichan District Hospital, to lead the day-to-day operations of the 2N Maternal/Pediatrics unit.

We are looking for someone with senior clinical experience in perinatal care. If you are the right one for us, you effectively provide leadership to your multi-disciplinary team, successfully coordinate and facilitate daily clinical activities and supervise staff.

You have strong interpersonal skills. In this role, you act as a coach to assist staff with professional development and ensure the unit goals are met. You act as the communication liaison between team members and other health care professionals and work closely with obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, anesthetists and general practitioners.

The maternal/child unit at Cowichan District Hospital (CDH) performs pre-natal assessments, Fetal Health Surveillance, deliveries and postpartum care. It includes a 4-bed adult medical/ surgical unit. CDH supports the delivery of over 500 babies per year.

Qualifications
You will have successfully completed your Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and have 3-5 years’ related experience, including two years of relevant clinical experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience). You will have completed a specialty program in perinatal through a recognized college and have your current registration (or eligibility) with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC). Significant experience in Neonatal Resuscitation is required. Experience in pediatrics care and MORE OB is an asset.
